Paramount Pictures is one of the oldest and well known studios in the world, with over a century of history and over 3,000 feature films.  With such a vast output of film, the studio eventually built a facility to house and preserve its library of motion pictures. Today, the Paramount Archive is primarily a film tape archive, although it also includes digital assets, props and costumes, production stills and music related holdings as part of its collection. In 2009, the Paramount Archive took on the task of preserving films digitally. Working with IT software and infrastructure teams, the process of creating a Digital Archive was launched in November 2014.

Only 12 spots available! To attend, please RSVP here.

The subcommittees will provide LAAC members with an opportunity to lead and contribute to future programming efforts, as well as engage, collaborate, and build relationships with the other local archivists and professional organizations.

The LAAC subcommittees address five areas of focus - Archival Education, Community Outreach and Advocacy, Diversity, Press and Publications, and Social Activities. Each subcommittee consists of one chairperson and two or more members. Chairpersons are responsible for overseeing projects and reporting back to the LAAC Steering Committee as needed.

Each subcommittee will meet in-person or virtually three times a year, and check in with other local professional organizations to avoid duplicate efforts and/or identify potential collaborations for projects or events. Students are especially encouraged to participate - LAAC is interested in having local student representatives from UCLA, San Jose State, University of North Texas, and USC.

To sign up for a position, please email hello@laacollective.org by Monday, Nov. 7th and specify which subcommittee you are interested in and if you are interested in a chairperson position.
